Domestic Property – Central London, Surface Water Flooding

This prestigious property incurred extensive damage from surface water flooding when the combined sewer network was fully surcharged during a torrential rainstorm.

Foul water entered the basement causing flooding to a depth of 0.4m.  Clayton Surveying provided full design and project management services on behalf of the policyholder, liaising closely with the appointed drying company and arranging a full strip out of the basement bedrooms, bathrooms, media room, staff accommodation and utility room. A temporary access scaffold was installed in the front lightwell to avoid the need to transport debris and materials through the ground floor of the house, avoiding significant disruption to the client.

A schedule of work was written which enabled specialist contractor to price the repairs, which incorporated complex elements including audio-visual equipment repairs as well as detailing the fine finishes selected by interior designers.

The project was fully managed and overseen by Clayton Surveying, who provided project management, contract administration and Principal Designer services.
